Welcome to the world of  MI27. Its agents prefer to call themselves the Shadows because their job is to make it seem that nothing strange ever happens, so no one notices when drug and trafficking rings are literally destroyed. There definitely aren’t any cults that are trying to destroy the world, either. Nor are there as many terrorist attacks, and there are definitely no public figures who need to be saved from the consequences of their naivete and stupidity. Or at least nothing like as many of them as there could have been.

Shadow agents are carefully profiled and assigned partners that they’re compatible with because a man/woman team is far less conspicuous. Their boss likes to think that they never fall in love with each other or have sex, so they do their best not to get caught doing it. Sometimes people from outside their world get caught up in their operations and find that they’re capable of things that they never imagined they could be and definitely didn’t want to. They also realise that the world is a far stranger and more dangerous place than they imagined it could be, and if they’re lucky, then they get to live happily ever after.
